Ida Kay Hendrickson, 73, of Elkader, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Elkader Care Center. She was born October 27, 1937, in Aurora, IL to Kenneth and Jean (Beverly) Perrin. She attended the Yorkville Consolidated School.

In her early years Ida worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Hendrickson on August 31, 1957. She worked for the Elkader Wire Factory for thirty-five years, and Community Action for five years. Two of her favorite pastimes included riding horses and later in life motorcycles. Additionally, she had a passion for helping people in need, ensuring they had a hot meal and a place to stay.

Survivors include her children, Jean (Tim) Whittle of Volga, Jodi Hendrickson and Jerome Healy of Ely and Robert Hendrickson of Elkader; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Chad) Ruegnitz, Robby Brown, Kayla Brown, Bethany Healy, Timothy (Liz) Healy, Jeremy Hendrickson and Emily Hendrickson-Troester; four great-grandchildren, Carson Ruegnitz, Blayne, Trace and Cruz Healy; brothers, William (Phylis) Perrin of Maryville, TN, Kenneth (Kathy) Perrin of Sheridan, IL and David (Rita) Perrin of Mendota, IL; sisters, Ina Goins of Mendota, IL, Pam (Walter) Pelech of Scott, AR and Penny (Richard) Hammer of Centralia, IL; many nieces and nephews and a special friend James Ohl of Elkader.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Jennifer Marie Cornwell, 25, of rural Edgewood, died Friday, September 23, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was born December 16, 1985, in Guttenberg, to Lonny and Patty (Handke) Amsden. Jennifer graduated from Central Community High School in Elkader. She had been employed at Rockwell Collins in Manchester.

On April 17, 2010, Jennifer was united in marriage to Daniel Cornwell in Guttenberg.

Jennifer loved dogs, horses, camping and photography. In her free time, she enjoyed embroidering. She always had a smile and a captivating presence.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Cornwell of rural Edgewood; her parents, Lonny and Patty Amsden of Littleport; brother, Cole and Amy Amsden and Trevor of Littleport; mother-in-law, Jean Cornwell of Greeley; grandparents, Lloyd and Wanda Amsden of Edgewood; two sisters-in-law, Dianna (Danny) Hansel of Elkport, Tami Barnhart of Greeley; one brother-in-law, Mike Cornwell of Waterloo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandparents, Art and Lorine Handke, and father-in-law, Jerry Cornwell.
